I got the black one for my black iPad. Looks sharp and fits my 3rd generation iPad perfectly. It is light and did not add any noticeable weight. The angle for typing is just right. I wanted something that added little bulk while providing a decent amount of protection. This case definitely falls into that category. It is slightly different than the skinny case for previous generation ipads. The edges are now mostly protected instead of mostly open. That is a nice improvement.Another difference is the magnet for the auto on/off feature of the ipad is very weak. The previous skinny case had a strong magnet. This ensured the cover stayed closed even without securing the tab. Some people complained that the magnet was turning off the ipad when opened, so I guess STM solved that with a weaker magnet. The current magnet works great for the on/off feature. BUT, it is so weak that it provides zero magnetic resistance to keep the cover closed. I received the case and was happy with the way it looked and fit but again, as with some other iPad 3 cover providers, the magnetic wake/sleep function did not work. In fact I could not detect any magnetic field in the cover at all. The vendor claimed the case was not defective and told me to contact STM direct and that they had an additional tape which could be attached to the inside of the case which would provide the wake/sleep work.Unfortunately that was unacceptable to me. This was a gift to another person and now have to research new iPad 3 covers again and try to get one that actually has the magnetic wake/sleep function that works as advertised. |
